A weekend came up and I have a set of movies to be watched in the theaters which includes Dirty Picture,Osthe,Porali,Mayakkam Enna and Machine Gun Preacher....I need to select any two of them as the timings then only will come in my way...So I selected Dirty Picture and Osthe because of two reasons...One is Osthe is the most expected tamil release of the recent times and Dirty Picture will be leaving theatres this week and also I want to catch my favorite heroic heroine in action.Anyway this time I have two write ups..Let me start on with Osthe
Osthe - Overly massed up
The movie is the most expected among the recent releases in tamil cinema and that is because of two reasons...One is the that this is the remake of the super megha hit Dabangg and other one is the super hit songs along with Simbu's lone hero movie after Vinaithandi Varuvaya. From my personal perspective I didnt liked Dabang too much as a movie but I liked the wonderful way Salman carried a bleak story for 2 hours with his star show and power.....and may be thats why we call Salman,SRK all stars and Kamal,Mammotty,Mohanlal all actors....Anyway thats debatable.....So when I entered into the theater for Osthe certain things just filled in my mind.....First thing is how the songs will be pictured as all of them were chartbusters especially 'Kalasala' which is the remake of Munni and 'Cute Pondatti' which can be called as a Simbu trademark....secondly how Simbhu's sixpack :P...........Anyway I have some expectations before watching the movie which are I think are the normal expectations of any movie lover going for a masala movie
The movie starts off with a pretty debatable topic.....he he ..watch it out.. I m not expressing it out here....Anyway its about a core cash that has to carried from one place to another for Boxer Daniel(Sonu) elections purposed and while the cash is on the way...our hero enters....Osthe -The Mass......with a stunt scene which replicated the one which happened in Singham(hindi version) but I would say this one failed miserably as the hindi stunt scene scored like anything.....then movie starts of there with a intro stunt and so on....Simbhu tried to give life into character by changing the way he walks and also using the local slang but boss still Salman is way front of you....You were not able to reach anywhere near him....that has been resembled in many scenes including the romantic ones.....Richa(heroine) was okay compared to Sonakshi in Dabang still I felt more life was with Sonakshi in the character....Eventhough almost all scenes are copied exactly from Hindi somewhere something is missing.....Its not just because I have watched the orginal before but because the film is overly massed up.....In the punch dialogue section also Simbhu fails badly...'Naan Kannadi Mathiri' didnt evoked a goosebumps in me like Vijay's punchlines.....Even the climax scene also got over massed such that you cant find a single logic in any of the stunt scenes....In every stunt scene you will think' hey how he is here?'....
The positives of the movie is definitely the comedy track from Santhanam....the brilliant one lines always kept us live amid of the total rampage of the movie . Comedy of this movie always needs a mentioning as I found this department scores much above the original one . In the original one laughing was barely happening...Secondly the movie scores well above Dabangg in terms of music also...while the original has just Munni to boast off...Osthe has almost all songs becoming super mass hits and also I personally felt Mallika's Kalasala was above Arrora's Munni.....Even then these two things wont be enough to place Osthe above or equal to Dabangg ....It is way below Dabangg only
People would say I had compared Osthe mainly with Dabangg rather than making an independent review.....Yes I do compared with Dabangg ....but still my review points to the goods n bads of Osthe also...
My rating is 4/10.......Watch it for Songs and Santhanam
